- Please be aware that this thread contains mature subject matter. Reader Discretion is adviced.
If a zombie was possible, then, as I theorize it, it would have have to be the direct result of some super-adpative virus that would stimulate key receptor nodes in the central nervous system, located at the top of the spine, base of the cerbral cortex.
The parasite virus would stimulate these nodes with minor electrical charges (just as the brain does) to trigger movement from the human host. Unfortunately, in order to create these charges a good bit of energy is pulled from the hosts motabolism, creating the need for the zombie to feed.
Since living hemogloben is rich in nutriants, specifically gluco-saline which viruses generally love, they would be compelled to feed on living flesh. In order to find the living flesh, the virus, which we'll reffer to as the A-Virus, would adapt itself to infect cells according to the needs it presently has. In other words, each strand doing a simple but different job, working together to create a sense of sight and smell. Both of which are incredibly basic senses.
While I cannot properly theorize what the sight and smell abilities of a zombie would be, I can assume, based on the lack of a complex nuclie system, that there would be a rather large delay in the sight of an immoble object (such as a person standing still) and a response. This is because the zombie lacks the actual brain power to respond to what it is seeing, since it doesn't see movement, which it would instictively associate with life, ergo, food.
But simply standing still would not protect someone from the sense of smell. It is a rather basic theory that by hyperstimulating only a few sent receptors as to moderately stimulating all of them, certain odors can be smelled from a long distance away. Odors such as Iron, Glucose, and Saline - all found in human blood.
Intresting, the most dangerous thing about a zombie would not be its teeth, but rather its stregth. See, we as humans have nerve endings and a sense of comprehension that keeps us from over-extending out muscles. But a zombie would, theoretically, have no preception of pain, and would just keep pushing, pulling, clawing, whatever, untill it had done what it desired. This means that someone who was moderately weak in life, could be as strong as if they had full adrenoline effects active once the virus had control of them.
In other words, a one on one fist fight with a zombie is a losing one. Pressure points, hits below the belt, and rib shots will serve no purpose because the zombie feels no pain. Additionally, if they get a good grip on any part of you, they can just as soon rip it off as pull you towards them.
That's one of my theories - if you have your own, list them. _________________

The only logical way to kill your theoretical Zombies is therefore to locate the nerve cluster at the base of the spine and hit it with a good strong jab of the fingertips followed by a firm twist.
This should render the Zombie motionless, allowing you to decapitate it or do whatever you're going to do.

Or, theoretically, a nice swift decapitation via, oh I don't know... A shot from an extremely high powered shot gun should do the trick.
Or, perhapes, since the virus would not adapt too quickly, you could damage the brain severly enough to throw the virus's attention elsewhere, causing the zombie to fall motionless for an unknown ammount of time. But that's unlikely, knowing the nature of viruses. _________________
