I am sick and tired of having to see people coast through life on their looks and make millions of dollars. Worse still are people who get famous for setting bad examples, such as many rappers.

Just recently, I saw a Doritos commercial in which some famous black celebrity is standing in a recording studio, talking about a song they're mixing, only to comment, and I quote, "I know what it need - It need some country." Congratulations 'Missy' you have selected to not only make yourself look like an uneducated fool, but you've told tons of young black children, that its okay to butcher our language. If children of any race are to stand a decent chance of succeeding in American Society, they need to, if nothing else, be able to communicate effectively.

But the problems don't end there do they? No, no... Here's another group of people who deserve to be mentioned as helping destroy our children: TV Celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, and sooo many others. Little girls have enough crap to deal with grades 2 through 10. The last thing our daughters need is another complete IDIOT who springs forth onto the sceen flaunting their cleevage and poor acting/singing/or other skills and somehow making millions of fans and dollars. These women set the path to easy street through looks, sex, and immorality. Women in suits: good role models. Women in loving families: good role models. Women paid to work in thongs, dance on poles, or sleep with anyone for money (on camera or off): Bad Role Models!

I'm also troubled deeply by teachers and parents who allow teenagers's to ignore their studies in hopes that they will succeed in Cheerleading, football, baseball, or whatever. Teachers, far too often, wave the requirements, both in grades and decipline, for football players and cheerleaders. That is why, far too often, you end up with one small group of friends, who quite literally, rule the school. Parents make matters worse in two ways: 1) They are allowing the child to miss valuable education while chasing a hope that they may one day be the 1 out of 1,320,000 students to ever use a sport as a career form, and 2) Far too often, one of the parents will force their unfulfilled dreams onto their children. That is actually a huge problem in all sorts of things, but worse, I feel, than the "football dads" are the "cheerleader/pagent moms." If you're child wants to persue something in which they have less than a millionth of a chance at, you support them, but you also make sure they stay on their studies and they have a back-up plan in life. "Darn shame my cheerleading career didn't work out, but at least I finished medical school at top of my class. Guess I'll become a doctor." That's right, Cindy, that's right...

One final thing before I leave to brew on this subject in quiet contemplation. This is a group of people I believe simply should be gagged and beaten with their own shoes: Parent who refuse to decipline their children. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not for beating a child. But sometime back in the early 90s, everyone came to a conclusion that the way our children have been raised for thousands of years, by which I mean spanking - is damaging to their well being. I personally blame Opra for this... Spanking a child is in no way shape or form damaging, but it should be the last resort. A child who is old enough to understand that you are refusing to buy a toy they just saw, is old enough to be spanked if they continue to yell and scream after you warn them to stop. The key here is warning. You children will, within 10 spankings, understand that when they are given a verbal warning, they should instantly adjust to obey it. This teaches self-discipline also because it shows the child direct consiquences and instills the belief that if they are told not to do something, there is a reason for it. If you don't discipline your child, life will - and hard. Save your child the pain.

I am so glad I don't let my children watch the music channels, I really don't want them watching those half naked singers on tv... There is enough of that on the commercials for my taste. Its bad enough my one daughter is the 'Miss Priss' type already. My daughters will learn what is right and wrong in this world and they will have a sense of self respect.
I have never agreed with parents or teachers letting studies slide for extra curricular activities. No one ever said that you had to become a cheerleader or a football player to graduate from school.
As far as the 'spanking' issue, I agree that it should be used as a last resort as well... I give my children to the count of three before I take their fun away and if that doesn't work i give them to the count of three again and then comes the spanking. In all honesty it is normally just a few swats and that is it, but I swear you would think that I had ripped off an arm or something... I don't see anything wrong with spanking as long as that is all it is, just a spanking.

my daughter is too young yet to undrestand that stuff but i am of the opinion that it isnt the entertainments industries job or anyone elsees for that matter to teach her good values and the right and wrong way to do things. thats my job. As far as i am concerned its ok for to be exposed to things like that as long as i make sure she understands that these are not people to emulate, only to pity and/or laugh at.

Yes, but you also have to understand that parental influence becomes more limited with age. Eventually public acceptance and peer pressure take the reigns over thigns like Parantal Guidence. I mean, every single person in existance has at one point in their youth, weighed the values of their parents against the values of their friends, and then chose what values they wanted to have.

I am not saying that a parent has no control, don't think that. I am not disrespecting the parents of America (at least not the decent parents) - but I am saying that the jobs of parents would be significantly easier, and perhapes, more effictive and long lasting, if these negative influences were eliminated. I honestly cannot think of a single way in which the "Bratz" dolls benefit anyone other than the company which preduces them. Not one. But it does show your girls that its okay to wear thongs and make-up from birth (Bratz babies dolls - truelly scary things to come across in the store).

my son, also known as the taco thats been on the bench for 3 days has been making some bad green bacteria friends lately.

Nah, I have my life planned out, but I'm still having fun and I still watch the music channel =P

For thos e of you interested, I have already finished the maximum i can do at the age of 13 for becoming a pilot, including junior BAC tests. If i dont become a pilot Ill become a flight enginneer or a doctor or a game programmer or an ICT technician. Aswell as maybe a part time traceur (parkour) and rugby player.

Thats my view, which is on the other side of the scales here i believe.

Wow.. This is a bit sad and scary...

I've got my pilot's license. I've taken the EMT courses. And I have been offered various ITS positions in the past, even some working for the military.

All of that has long since passed, so let me just give you a freindly forewarning...

Be prepared for absolutely anything. It only takes one unexpected tragedy to rip your life to shreds.

I've had a lot of good moments in my life... But I've also had a lot of bad ones. I've felt deeply in love - only for death to intervene. I've felt successful and happy - only to be homeless two days later.

I've learned this the hard way:
Always expect the un-expected and be aware of the most important truth all of life: If you are ever content with your life, if even for a moment, change will come.

It may sound pessamistic, but I've learned to anticipate the absolute worst from virtually everyone and everything. Then, in the even that something does work out better than I'd anticipated, I'm pleasantly suprized. I guess I just don't like getting caught off guard - but then again, my life has been a bit different from most.
