What if, just for taking vitamin C, you could be thrown in jail for up to 2 years and fined up to $5,000,000?

That scenario could very well soon become a reality in Canada. The Canadian Government is trying to pass a bill known as Bill C51. According to some interpretations of the bill, it would remove all supplements from over-the-counter availability, by only allowing MD’s to prescribe them as they see fit.

This would mean that if you wanted to take a multivitamin, you would have to book an appointment with your doctor and try to convince your doctor that you are in need of these supplements. If your doctor decides a certain drug would be better for you, then you won't have access to your supplements anymore.

Consequences of the bill could include:

  • No more supplement stores.
  • Supplements made illegal unless obtained through a prescription; 70 percent of all current supplements on the market could be removed.
  • Fines of up to $5,000,000 and/or 2 years in jail per incident of being caught breaking this law.

If this doesn't scream "Curruption of Medical Industry" I don't know what does.

I really had expected more common sense from Canada, but this is just disappointing. Drug Companies own doctors. It's that simple. Ever heard of Pharmaceutical Sales Representatives? They're people who go around and sell prescription drug contracts door to door at every medical institute they can find.

And if you try to stand up to them, you can get yourself in serious trouble because they have some very cunning and deviously lawyers who are just waiting to bankrupt anyone who doesn't conform to the medical company's wishes.

And now, Canada is signing away their souls to this medical industry.

"Okay, Mr.Smith, it seems you're blood is running a tad thin. Well, I would have you take some Vitamin K, but I'll get sued for violating corperate guidelines."

"So what should I do?"

"Here, take this prescription blood thickener. It's side effects include head ache, constipation, soar throat, erectile disfunction, diaheria, swelling of the hands and eyes, soarness of the lungs, difficulty swallowing, and in some cases; death."

"Oh my... And this is safer than the Vitamin K?"

"No, not at all. Heck, it's not even nearly as effective as the vitamin would be either. But it's all I can do to keep my practice open."

Same vitamin. Different source.

It's considerably more concentrated in a vitamin pill than in an orange. For example, you'd have to eat 7 oranges to equal the average Vitamin C Supplement.

They're pulling it because they can. If they pull the over the counter (non-presription) sources of the Vitamin, then they can jack up the prices of prescription supplimants, which pads their pocket even further.

Apparently I made the thread title come across wrongly, lol.

They aren't banning oranges and lemons from the country, just the over-the-counter supplements.
