I haven't seen it yet. I should probably get around to it if it really is this good!

I've got to disagree, I'm sorry...

But I've seen a good bit of movies lately, and Cloverfield was by far the worst. There was no plot. I get the whole "One groups story amid chaos" but there was no conclusion, no suitable backstory, and a very cheap movie built off of one poorly inspired idea... Then, they had the nerve to liken it to Godzilla in the special features... For several reasons that I won't get started on right now, that is just wrong...

Movies are meant to end with either conclusion or a twist. The systems of "Rising Action > Climax > Falling Action > End" has been in effect for thousands of years.

I understand that this movie was an experiement in a different film style, but if you're looking for a story (not just chaotic running around with no plot all to be ultimately pointless), then this movie failed.

You know what, though, after the Epic Failure(tm) that was War of the Worlds, I thoroughly enjoyed Cloverfield. I like movies that make you think, but I didn't go into it thinking it would be one of those movies. I just kicked back with a really good friend and enjoyed it. I had no trouble getting drawn into the character drama at the beginning (maybe it's just because I've known friends that behave that way), and as long as you suspend belief enough to listen to them for the few minutes before the real action takes place, it's easy enough to feel what they are feeling as it unfolds.

Believe it or not, I was extremely satisfied with the ending. To me, it made perfect sense and leaves room for a sequel if they decided to run with it. Far as the Godzilla comparison, well -- I hate Godzilla movies. Very Happy

Well I won't go into the specific details about the movie, since there are people who will read this without having seen it, but there is much of it that fails to satisfy. Because, primarily, of the vanity that everything closed on.

I actually did not like it either. I liked the situations and the characters, but I couldn’t get passed the fact that the whole thing was through a video camera, some parts like that would have been okay, but the whole thing? And also, not knowing anything that was going on annoyed me. I guess it all depends on the person who's watching it. I can see why some people whould like it very much, it is different and unique, but for me it was lacking.
