Just found this tutorial online while researching something for Tsucasta- http://www.turnpoint.net/wireless/cantennahowto.html

Tsucasta and I were looking to rig something like this up using old DishTV Satelites, but this is the closest thing I could find...

I still think I could modify this design to work via a Satelite link up, and I actually have two rough drafts of how it might have to work...

As you can see from figure 1, the satellites are just aimed directly at each other, while as in figure 2, they're reflected off of a geo-stationary orbital and then into each other. I'm sure this could be done, and I've come up with steps with which to do it (the main key for figure to is boosting signal power), but since I've got a feeling this is all kinds of illegal, I'm just leaving well enough alone for now. Stick with the Tin Cans - those are legal.

On an additional note, the picture above was made in MSPaint and then had the background made transparent in PhotoShop. A little over-kill for a doodle, but now that its done, its a true work of art, lol.
